John Steinbeck, The Pearl The book The Pearl from John Steinbeck deals with an indian fisherman- named Kino, his wife Juana and their baby- son Coyotito. The family lives in a little brush house at the coast of the Gulf. While the sun is rising and a new day begins to start Kino and his wife are still lying on their mats next to their son Coyotito who sleeps in a hanging box. Kino is a very poor man but remains happy because of his family. After he stood up he listens to the sounds outside for a while and watches the rising sun. Next, Kino hears the Song of the Family in his mind and this shows the reader that everything is well.
