Beschreibung / Inhalt
Das Dokument beschreibt die Organisation der Feuerwehr in Österreich. Es gibt insgesamt 4.549 freiwillige Feuerwehren und 324 Werksfeuerwehren, während nur große Hauptstädte eigene Berufsfeuerwehren haben. Die Feuerwehren in Österreich sind für den Brandschutz, präventive Maßnahmen, technische Hilfeleistung und Rettung von Menschen und Tieren sowie für den Schutz vor Schäden bei Naturkatastrophen oder chemischen Unfällen zuständig. Die österreichische Bundesfeuerwehr-Föderation koordiniert diese Aktivitäten. Es gibt auch regelmäßige Feuerwehrwettkämpfe, bei denen die technischen Fertigkeiten der Feuerwehrleute getestet werden. Junge Menschen zwischen 12 und 16 Jahren können als Teil der österreichischen Jugendfeuerwehr trainieren. Insgesamt haben die Feuerwehren in Österreich einen sehr guten Ruf.
